John Cammegh KC
Criminal Defence, Criminal Prosecutions, Extradition & International, Business Crime
I am a highly accomplished Silk who has unique experience at the highest level of practice in both English and international jurisdictions.
Primarily a defence advocate in areas of homicide, organised crime related to drug and firearms I have also taken private instructions in recent years in cases involving sexual offences of varying complexity and history, including allegations of harassment and domestic violence.
In Silk I have further broadened my expertise by successfully acting for the prosecution in a series of notorious and nationally publicised murder trials.
Advising and undertaking private prosecutions on behalf of individuals determined to bring suspect individuals and corporate bodies to justice in cases related to malicious allegations/falsifying evidence/seeking to pervert the course of justice are areas of keen interest to me.
My customary, down to earth manner and continuity of service to clients have led me to be listed as a leading criminal Silk in the Legal 500 since my appointment in 2019.
I enjoy working closely with my clients in order to strive towards best outcomes and I relish the opportunities that Direct Access work provide through closer and bespoke client contact.

International Practice
In addition to domestic practice I have wide experience of international tribunals having acted for a defendant in the 4 year Special Court of Sierra Leone (2004-095 charged with Crimes Against Humanity, War Crimes and Use of Child Soldiers. I acted for various accused in the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh (2011-14) who faced charges of Genocide.
